Historic Basilica Light Study

The digital camera was set to capture one image every second at 1/20 speed. A strobe light was held and pointed at the areas of interest at angles that best benefited the shot. Every time the diaphragm shot, the strobe was flashed, and by combining all of these individual exposures in Photoshop, a perfectly lit scene was created—achieving the best possible lighting for the Agia Onouphrios fresco and the mosaic.
An architectural and interior lighting study conducted within a historic Orthodox basilica, focusing on the interplay between natural daylight and deep architectural shadows.
The shoot documented the 'Dynamic Light Synthesis' technique—a hybrid approach combining precise photographic flash with ambient window light to balance high-contrast spaces while retaining the tactile textures of marble columns and wooden furnishings.

Agios Demetrios Dome Study

I applied the Dynamic Light Synthesis technique in a unique space at Agios Demetrios, which had never been photographed in this manner before. The camera was placed resting on its back on the floor, pointing directly up at the dome.
Using a 10.5mm ultra-wide lens, I was able to cover the entire dome in a single shot—something that had never been done before. The camera was set to take one picture every second at 1/20 speed. While the camera shot continuously, I used a pole to aim the strobe flash toward all sides of the dome, progressively lighting the scene.
