Cozy in the Cold: Vasilitsa Ski Resort Hospitality
Photographing warm timber interiors and challenging snow-covered exterior environments at the Vasilitsa ski chalets.
Photographing ski resorts is a study in extreme temperature and exposure contrasts. In Vasilitsa, I documented the cozy, rustic interiors of timber chalets and alpine bars.
The main technical challenge was balancing the warm, intimate indoor light against the blindingly bright, high-contrast snow-covered landscapes outside the windows. By using careful exposure blending and auxiliary strobe fills, I captured the inviting atmosphere of these winter retreats.
