Spatial Archaeology: Ancient Heritage Portfolio

January 1, 2006

A retrospective of documenting classical sanctuaries, Roman civic architecture, and medieval Byzantine churches.

Photographing archaeological heritage is a delicate balance between artistic expression and scientific documentation. Over five years, I traveled to classical sanctuaries, Roman ruins, and remote Byzantine churches to compile this portfolio.

Each shoot required studying the path of the sun to determine when the light would best define the weathered stone inscriptions, architectural moldings, and fading frescoes. By using careful exposure blending, I captured the quiet grandeur of these historical spaces.
